In different settings like exhibitions, public space and academic spaces I facilitated collective weaving sessions. Weaving, a communal tradition in many cultures, becomes a bridge transcending language, fostering connections through the tactile exploration of fibers.
During these gatherings, weaving serves as a universal language. Often referred to as ‚making sessions‘ or ‚weaving sessions,‘ the format of the workshop is questioned. The focus is on the process rather than a predetermined outcome, people exchange and share techniques blurring the division of facilitator/participant.
These sessions emphasize shared experiences, where the loom becomes a tool for dialogue, weaving not just fibers but also narratives and connections.
I document these collective processes through photography, writing and tracing gaps in the weave.

Making
Workshop at KASK, Belgium
In collaboration with Qusai al Saify we facilitated a workshop for the students of the Textile Design Masters at KASK. We focused on the techniques of weaving and origami and opened the process of making into a collective experience. We asked the students to work together, gather different materials and weave on different structures to challenge the idea of a frame and given grid structure.
Weaving Futures
Summer 2021
Together with Julina Vanille Bezold we went to Esch in Luxemburg for 2 weeks to co-facilitate a workshop for the “Esch cultural capital 2022”. Together with Fadi and Samira who both lived in Esch at the time we collaborated on planning a workshop around up-cycling. People from the commune of Esch and especially inhabitants of a home for asylumseekers participated in the two-week workshop. We gathered discarded clothes from a collection center and participants had the opportunity to construct new garments, embellish them with embroidery and share any other technique they knew to share with others.
Leftovers and cut off pieces were used to weave in the collective weaving frame we built.
